2020 Wines by Jean-Paul Riesling, Mount Alexander

French-trained, Ballarat-based, small-batch, natural winemaker Jean-Paul Trijsburg made wine in Burgundy, Pomerol, Rheingau – then Hanging Rock and Lethbridge Wines – absolutely loving the new flinty, high 600m alt., aromatic Riesling. Very happy making!

“I love this Riesling, it’s my ‘go to’ white for most occasions. This riesling comes from an exceptional site near Mount Alexander grown on a granite outcrop at 600mt altitude: this is Riesling country. Made in a dry style, this Riesling was picked in late March, pressed gently and fermented in old barriques using indigenous yeast. The result is a mineral, dry wine with flavours of apricots, gooseberries and a hint of flint.” Jean-Paul Trijsburg.
