In 2011, Caroline Bailey opened Woodend Wine Store in what was an historic Scotch oven bakery, tucked off the main road on tree-lined Anslow Street, in sight of the old clock tower.
Caroline had a storied life in wine at renowned restaurants, retailers and wineries, before she made a tree change to Woodend, at the foot of the Macedon Ranges.
A veritable wine sage, Caroline has a wellspring of wine knowledge from vineyard to table, though created a welcoming, leisurely space for anyone interested in engaging with wine.
An exceptional, curated collection
Woodend Wine Store is a thoughtfully-curated collection featuring small-batch new world and old world producers - supporting local Macedon Ranges, Bendigo, Heathcote, Pyrenees wineries - with a focus on independent and iconic Australian producers and special wines from France, Germany and Italy. Each month, Caroline Bailey curates featured producers and seasonal mixed packs for those who can’t browse the shelves in person.
After 20-odd years in wine, Caroline has collected an impressive cellar and so presents an eclectic rotation of mature and museum releases of iconic wines, alongside and local spirits and gins flavoured with mountain botanicals.
