“Wine talks. Everyone knows that. Look Around You. Ask the oracle at the street corner; the uninvited guest at the wedding feast; the holy fool. It talks. It ventriloquizes. It has a million voices.….. It chuckles softly to itself. It opens up summers long past…Every bottle a whiff of other times other places; every one from the commonest Liebfraumilch to the imperious 1945 Veuve Cliquot, a humble miracle. Every day magic… Layman’s alchemy”
Blackberry Wine, by Joanne Harris
Caroline (Caz) Bailey, like many who wander into Woodend, and find themselves staying, came to Woodend in 2008 while working as an assistant Winemaker for a local winery. Caz’s meandering journey to Woodend included a number of years working in wineries around Australia and New Zealand, while completing her Wine Science Degree at Charles Sturt University.
In 2010 Caz and husband Simon, brought to life, their vision of a charming and welcoming wine store that would give the lovely folk of the Macedon Ranges, and those who visit, a welcoming space to find wines and beers from producers who love doing what they do, and do so with integrity, gusto, passion, innovation and soul, and more often than not, really gorgeous labels!
It brings the team huge delight to find you just what you were looking for whether you knew what that was before you walked in the door or not.
